Hi,
Can I entirely replace the data cable with the bluetooth connection between the pc and the phone? Does the Data Suite software works under bluetooth? Thanks!

David says:
Yes you can use bluetooth for connecting Siemens Gigaset SL565 to a PC and yes the Data Suite software supports bluetooth.

Hi,
I have bought an additional handset for the gigaset SL565 but cannot register it. Do you perhaps know the default pin number for the base station please?
Many thanks.

David says:
On page 40 of the manual it says that the default pin to register a handset is 0000.
Don't forget to also push and hold the button on the base station for 3 seconds within 60 seconds.

If that is the case, it is indeed the peak of stupidity, why would the device have different profiles for different devices (headset etc...) and not be able to use them as intended? No, haven't called them and haven't tried updating. Let me know if you have any success.
P.S. There is a single line in the user manual that says to transfer calls hold talk button for up to 5 seconds, and a previous headset did prompt the phone to display "no voice tags recorded" when the button was pressed (before the headset broke down)

Did you manage to sort out the headset issue, I've been trying to use the thing with my Jabra JX 10 with no luck !!!!! It pairs but can't make calls on it. Does not make sense as the JX 10 is displayed with a headset icon, so it must be recognizing it as a device that supports headset profile.

David says:
Did not get any bluetooth headset working. They all register fine with the Gigaset SL565 but it is not possible to pick up a call or to initiate a call.
It seems like the bluetooth functionality on the SL565 is to be used only for file transfer.
Very poor indeed from a Siemens device.
PS Have you tried calling Siemens support or looked for a firmware update?

Hi,
Thanks a lot about your info regarding Gigaset SL565 and its DCA-510 USB data cable.
However I am still confused about the right cable!
Because DCA-510 USB data cable looks to be used for Siemens Mobile Phones and not Gigaset SL565!
Furthermore, you are talking about a serial cable used for synchronisation..
All in all, and according to your own experience, will DCA-510 USB cable function properly with Gigaset SL565 for the purposes of transferring bitmap images and data synchronisation in connection with PCs not equipped with Bluetooth?
Thanks,
Emma

David says:
Hello Emma, according to the user manual the DCA-510 USB data cable is to be used with the SL56. This was also confirmed by customer support. Initially I tried using a synch cable from a Siemens mobile but this did not work.
I mentioned that I was previously using a serial RS232 cable (DCA-500) with the older SL55 and was observing same connection issues on 3 different computers. To me this seems to mean that there is a connectivity issue in the phones (SL55 / SL56) when using a cable.
The cable will be better than nothing but expect frequent transfer errors and time-outs on larger files (I did not experience this when using bluetooth).

Thanks for the great info on the Siemens Gigaset SL565. With the proper mains adapter, do you think this phone will work in the United States?

David says:
The mains adapter will fix the power supply but I would not know about the phone line compatibility.
